Metal point drawing is one of the oldest drawing techniques in Western art. Using a fine metal stylus on a prepared surface it creates a delicate, permanent lines that richen in tone over time. In this introduction class, we’ll cover basic tools and surfaces, mark-making, and value development through careful observation and controlled technique. Because metal point cannot be erased, the process encourages intention, patience, and close observation. This course is ideal for students who want to slow down and explore a medium that rewards focus, patience and subtlety.
Introduction to
Metal Point Drawing
April 6 - June 8, 2026
In this class, you will embark on a journey towards technical mastery and intuitive understanding of the human form. Starting from quick gesture drawings to longer, more thoughtful poses and drawings, you will learn to incorporate proportions, form, structure, and the use of light and shade to depict volume. The class will place a strong emphasis on essential measuring techniques, observational skills, and value relationships throughout the course. By the end, you will have gained a foundation in figure drawing and be well-equipped to continue your practice independently.

Painting from Life
April 6 - June 10 2026
In the final installment of this three-part foundation oil painting series, students will bring together the skills and techniques developed in the previous classes to paint from the live model. This class focuses on capturing the human form through observation, emphasizing proportion, gesture, anatomy, and the interplay of light and shadow. Students will explore color mixing, layering, and brushwork to create a dynamic and lifelike rendering.
Foundation Figure Drawing

April 7 - June 11, 2026
This figure drawing class is designed for artists of all levels who want to expand their skills and experiment with different mediums and techniques. The course focuses on the human form and aims to improve your understanding of anatomy, proportion, and gesture. You will have the opportunity to work from the live model and experiment with various mediums such as graphite, charcoal, and trois crayon. Throughout the course, you will receive individualized feedback and guidance from the instructor to help you refine your skills and achieve your personal goals.
